We've decided, with or without the consent of the weather, it's now Spring! The greenhouse is therefore bursting at the seams with all the seeds we've been busy germinating over the past few weeks! The raised beds are manured, using our own chicken muck, and set out ready for planting our very own Whitethorn Farmhouse Kitchen Garden.
Our herbal borders are carefully designed, not only to ensure we have the freshest varieties of herbs for our dishes, but also as natural pesticides and to encourage bees and butterflies into the garden to help pollenate our fruit and vegetables.
Though, as I'm sitting here writing this, I'm wondering if perhaps I might be just a little premature in planning the grand planting out! The wind is whistling down the chimney and looking over to the greenhouse, I'm reminded why the old solid wood kitchen table, my planting surface, is wedged firmly against the door! Even the cat has just legged it across the patio and taken refuge in the shed for fear of becoming tumbleweed!
Hmmmm! Maybe I'll leave it just a few more days!!!
Friday Night was Race Night for FOWS and Whitethorn Farmhouse Kitchen. We had a fantastic night of food, flutters and fun! Lasagne and Chicken Curry were the bill of fare and everyone enjoyed 2nd and 3rd helpings! Must've been good! Were you there? Did you enjoy our food? Let us know!
Thank you to the ladies of Wilberfoss WI (WOWWI), who invited us along last night to demonstrate some of what we do! It was a fantastic turn-out and we hope you enjoyed tasting the food as much as we enjoyed providing it and meeting you all! We look forward to seeing you again soon!

January is traditionally a time for change. The New Years Resolutions are written as we look forward to the months ahead.
It is also a time for reflection, and here in The Kitchen, we can look back on a year of fun, if sometimes hard, work. We have very much enjoyed looking after you in the past year, and would like to thank you for your loyalty and custom. As a business, we have grown together and the team have some exciting plans for the future - more details to follow!
Our resolve to you, is to continue to provide you with the highest quality food and service, a promise underpinned by the accolades we have recieved over recent months.
